Glass w/ Fox @ LiHigh School 

Throughout the Poultney Arts Day event,  Michael Scupholm will bring  the SAW Mobile Glass unit to Main St, Poultney.  He will be performing demos for Poultney Arts Day to allow for students, teachers and commuinity members to experience the physical properties of glass in action through heat, gravity, force, and pressure. 

Demos include glass blowing and glass sculpting. Student group participants will have the opportunity to walk away with a handmade glass heart, made in regard to the 2023 PAD theme "Art is the Heart of Main Street." 



Blacksmithing w/Cooper Scultz @ Main Street buisness (TBD)

Cooper is a graduate of Sterling College and enjoys sharing his craft with the community. He will be demonstrating his techniques for the  community of the Poultney and showing various ways to make funcitonal items.

Raku Kiln w/ Jordan Becker @ Poultney High School 

Salem Art Works ceramics director, Jordan Becker will be collaborating with Poultney High School ceramic's students in constructing a temporary wood fired raku-wood kiln and firing ceramic pieces made by students that will be inspired by Poultney’s Mainstreet.  

The firing will take place on Poutney Arts Day and people attending the festival will have the opportunity to observe the raku process and see the collaborative art pieces take shape as its is fired and assembled through-out the day.



Community Painting w/ Tom Merwin @ SVA lawn

Tom Merwin is a local painter and artist that created multiple painted murals that were on display for the evening event at SVA in 2022. He encouraged participants to contribute to a community and collaborative painting experience during the daytime event. He is going to be back for a second year!

Glowforge Explorations w/ Danny Lang @ REclaimED Makerspace

Students, educators  and community members will be invited into the makerspace throughout the day for tours and a station that encourages the exploration of a the Glowforge; a fun and high tech tool that can be accessed with a maker membership to this Poultney community hub on Main St. all year round! 



The Poet is In @ SVA lawn 

Bianca Amira Zanella will be @SVA on the lawn and engaging the community participants and students with "The Poet is In" performance. 

Community Sculpture w/Zac Ward & SAW @ the rail trail 

Re-imagining a new sculpture with a heavy metal armature bolted to a cement base, sculptor Zac Ward will manipulate and attach pieces of scrap metal to the base using a mig welder and oxyacetylene torch to create a sculpture. The sculpture will be created by the railroad tracks near the rail trail connecting the sculpture to Salem, NY and Rutland  County,VT as a metaphor to ‘tie’ the local artist community together. 

The public is invited to collaborate with Zac by giving recommendations on the sculpture’s composition. 

Slate Valley Trails Bike Printing @Analog 

SVT in collaboration with Analog will host a printmaking station incorporating bicycle gears and parts. Students and PAD community participants will be able to learn more about SVT and take away a piece of bike art. 

Slate Carving w/ Kerry O. Furlani @ Journal Press

Kerry is an amazing educator and artist who has been of PAD since 2017! She welcomes the students and the community into her slate carving space and demostrates her mastery of the slate carving process. 

We are so lucky to have such an amazing artist in our community! 

Plein Air Art w/ Dick Weiss @ Journal Press

Dick Weis has been a part of PAD since our first event in 2017. He will be sharing his art making in the outdoor setting on Main Street sidewalk in front of the Journal Press building. Dick has always engaged the youth and our community with his process works! 

PAD is so grateful for his contued participation and contribution to the event and our arts community!

Batik Arts w/ Sarah Elworthy @ the Orignial Vermont  Store 

Sarah Elworthy will share her batik pactice with the community and students, hosted on the Original Vermont Store lawn.

Fiber Arts w/ church volunteers @ Unite Methodist Church 

Volunteers from the United Methodist Church will share with the community their fiber arts processes and techniques! 

We may even get a visit from a special bahhutiful guest. 

Paper Making w/ Iana @ Hermit Hill Bookstore

Iana will create and explore the art of paper making on the lawn @Hermit Hill Books with students and community on PAD. 

FOOD Art and Sculpture @ Poultney Public Library

Rebecca Cook with PPL volunteers will host PAD participants in a art making journey using food as a vehicle. The Poultney Public Librarian will utilize the library's amazing mobile food cart and kitchen for the event on Main!

SVA Youth Art Show @ SVA galleries "Art is at the Heart of Main Street"

Participants will be able to explore and view the May Student Art show that highlights local youths' artwork, in the galleries of SVA and also in the business windows along Main!

"Art is at the Heart of Main Street" youth art in BUISNESS WINDOWS on Main St.
